I am a Critical Care and Emergency Medicine physician at the University of Virginia Medical Center, where I practice in the Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgical ICU, Medical ICU, and Emergency Department.

Critical care is my passion, particularly the intersection of physiology, clinical decision-making, and medical education. Few areas of medicine demand such a deep understanding of human physiology and the ability to apply those principles in real time to positively impact patient outcomes. The ICU challenges clinicians to integrate complex data, think critically under pressure, and continually refine their approach to patient care.

The knowledge and skills developed here extend far beyond the ICU, which is why learners from nearly every specialty spend time rotating through this environment. Equally important, critical care is fundamentally a team sport. Success depends on collaboration with physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and many others, each bringing unique expertise to the care of critically ill patients.
